The first few days

Wow, what a trip this kid is! She is amazing. She entertains herself most of the time, without toys, just with whatever she can find laying around. She likes diet Coke (sorry - it was an experiment and will never happen again), shoes and jewelry. She's definitely MY KID. We got her a fabulous new bracelet yesterday and took her shopping today to get an au dai. The women on the streets stop us every few feet to touch her and coo at her. She's quite fetching, this one.

The poor little thing has night terrors at least once a night, but is fairly easily consoled with love and a bottle. Milk is a cure-all. She's already attached to us, and already answers to "Isabella" and "Bella". She ignores Jim when he calls her "Izzy". Thank God. He's now calling her "Pineapple" due to the hairdo she sports.

She has 4 teeth and another coming through, but doesn't act like they bother her a bit. She's walking all over the place - doesn't crawl one bit. Sits and walks only.

Today we tried the pool, which was a hit overall, I'd say, but it took some getting used to. She was SO cute in her suit. I just want to bite her! Yummy.

that's all for now b/c she's pretending to be upset that I'm on the computer (again).

love,
Kim

CONGRATULATIONS!! She's finally with her forever family. So excited for all of you. The night terrors are normal and common, you may want to consider co-sleeping with her to help her feel more secure and safe, as well as to facilitate further bonding. Is she awake when she's crying or does she appear to still be asleep? How long is it lasting? Night terrors will generally last about 45 minutes, they 'appear' to be still sleeping (even though they are wailing!) and nothing you can do will really console them. Cassidy had a couple of bad nightmares (in country) and would cry for 20 minutes or so, but she was definitely awake. Looking out the hotel window or going for a walk in the hall usually would help some. It's so much trauma for a little baby, her world has been turned completely upside down, and her reactions are totally normal and expected so just keep doing what you're doing and it will all work out fine. It's so good to see you finally with Bella in your arms. Can't wait to see you all at home...safe and sound. Have a blast and soak it all in...it's such a trip of a lifetime!
Love,
Windy, Chris and Cassidy

Have you and Jim planned your own On Safari episode? I just can't wait to hear more, and the pictures are fantastic.
